Expanding My Hard Drie

When I purchased my MacBook Pro, I got what I could afford.  Unfortunately, that meant a 250GB hard drive.  I'm constantly having to delete files or store them elsewhere.  Can I expand my hard drive to a higher capacity, and if so, how do I transfer all the data from my current hard drive to the new one?

Here is an install video for 2013 retina MBP:

The easiest way to do it is to get the new SSD, install it into a temporary enclosure, plug that into your Mac, format it for Mac and then clone your internal system to it. You can then swap the two drives and, after you install the new drive, you can just boot up and it'll be exactly like your old one.
