How to Enable Auto Unlock

So I just recently finished installing the MacOS Sierra. After a few tries of signing out of iCloud, I got the Apple Watch unlocking tick box to appear. But however when I ticked the box, it shows a message saying that I need to go to iCloud preferences and finish setting up.

What should I do?

PS. I did not get to approve my Mac yet.

Hi susanto_tm,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you would like to set up your Apple Watch to automatically unlock your Mac, but are running into difficulties. You did a great job of explaining the steps you have taken, but for the sake of completeness, we suggest reading over and working through the steps outlined in the following article to set this up.

Automatically unlock your Mac with your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Cheers

I got the tick box to enable it but after it loads for some time, it kept saying that my Mac could not communicate with my Apple Watch.

Hello again susanto_tm,

Thank you for the follow-up information. To continue troubleshooting, we would like to first make sure that your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone.

If your Apple Watch isn't connected or paired with your iPhone - Apple Support

If your iPhone and Apple Watch are connected as expected, try restarting your Apple Watch. After the watch restarts and reconnects, try checking the box again to allow your Apple Watch to unlock your Mac.

Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Have a great day.

Hey susanto_tm, if you're still seeing "Your Mac was unable to communicate with your Apple Watch" when checking the box, try this...

Open the Terminal app in the Utilities folder.  Paste in this command exactly and hit return afterward...

sudo log stream --system --predicate 'eventMessage contains "Remote peer setup, incorrect user password"'

Enter your admin password when it prompts and then try checking the box in Security pref pane to enable Auto Unlock.  If it still fails to communicate, see if the Terminal logged anything.  If it did, copy the log from Terminal and paste it into the discussion boards.  That will help us figure out if you're seeing a specific problem with your keychain.

I have the problem you are describing, and I get that error message in my logs. What can I do?
