Recieving SMS

Hi,

i'm planning to buy apple watch series 3, but let me first explain my status and the purpose:

I work in a place where i can't carry my phone in, but i need to receive the text SMS only, i don't need the calls as i can just forward my calls to office phone. Earlier i was using android phones where there is an application called SMS Forwarder, i can receive my SMS on my phone and email.

Currently with iPhone i can't have the same app.

I decided to buy the series 3, but the question now when my phone at home can still have the SMS received to my watch?

And how this will work, shall i have additional SIM card to be in my watch?

Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) has a built-in eSIM / embedded SIM that copies information from the paired iPhone. Use of the built-in cellular features requires a service plan for the paired iPhone (which must be an iPhone 6 or newer) that specifically includes support for the watch, including the carrier activating the device on the plan:
