iMac (EMC: 2124) Intel core 2 duo 1.83ghz OS X ...

I have recently bought an old 2006 iMac 1.83ghz core 2 duo desktop computer which is on OS X 10.5.8. (EMC: 2124)

I intended to use it as a media station using Logic Pro and similar audio editing tools in my home studio along side using office for mac to do my college work etc.

Unfortunately, I cannot update any of the programs such any safari or Firefox and therefore unable to download programs which are compatible with the OS. What shall or can I do to change this so that my computer is usable in the modern technological age?

I have also purchased a 2007 mac mini with 10.6.8 snow leopard freshly installed from eBay to use as a backup media center/server. Although this was intended to be used at a different office away from home which is inconvenient. But I am skeptical as to whether that will have the same problems. (Although I am going to fit a new t7600 cpu and 3gb of ddr2 ram to the mac mini along with a ssd drive)
