Ipad Pro 9.7 touch id stopped working after 11.0.1

I had the screen replaced on my Ipad Pro 9.7 (2016) several month by a local shop and the touch id was working smooth until i updated to 11.0.1 and it stopped working. on power on it get an error message "unable to active touch id" and when i go to the settings->Touch ID & Passcode-> "Add a Fingerprint" is greyed out and i dont see previously stored fingerprints nor able to add new one.

Since the display was replaced not by Apple, i didn't bother to take to apple store, kind a know what their response would be.

with todays 11.0.3, i noticed, apple has fixed touch id unresponsiveness for iphone 6s with non apple displays. I updated hoping that would apply to ipad as well but was disappointed.

I am reaching out to the community to see if anyone else have same issue and have a fix.
