Need 11.0.3 help For iPad Air

I reluctantly downloaded 11.0.3 to my iPad Air.  Now I can barely see the control center because it overlaps with all the other icons on my home screen.  It’s opaque so the other icons show through making it a blurry jumbled mess.  Also, everytime I tap an icon on my home screen, it show up again in my favorites bar at the bottom.  Is there a way to disable that feature.  If the icon is on my home page, I don’t need a duplicate in the bar. I have to keep deleting the icons from the bar Which is a pain.  Can anyone help me out here?
