MBP automatically shutting down ?

I had the battery replaced in my MBP mid-2012 with an OEM battery.

Now after some time of non-use my MBP shuts off.

It never use to do this. it use to just go to sleep but never shut off unless I shut it down.

Is this normal? How can I keep the MBP from shutting down?

I assume you mean it shuts down when running on battery and the battery runs out of charge? Try resetting the SMC: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295.

No, it shuts off on its own with a fully charged battery and plugged into the ac outlet.

Did you try the SMC reset? If no luck, it sounds like a hardware issue and I would bring the Mac to an Apple Store “genius” bar for a free diagnosis: https://support.apple.com/contact
