Does Macbook Air 2013 support DisplayPort 1.2 o...

Does the new Macbook Air 2013 support DisplayPort 1.2 over the Thunderbolt port? In other words, will I be able to daisy chain DP 1.2 monitors?

As far as I have understood it should be supported by the Haswell chipset.

I just tested, nope it doesn't work w/ my 2 Dell 24"

they both show the same image and not extended. In Display tab on OSX, just shows 2 monitors (Macbook+ one Dell 24")

May be it can support from hardware but software OS is probably not updated for it. hopefully in Mavericks they fix this.

Does anyone have any information on this?

According to this Apple Support article: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT5219 on #14 chart, it is capable to connect two Thunderbolts monitors.

Yes, thank you Matthew, but I was asking especially for DisplayPort 1.2. The Haswell computers should be using the Redwood Ridge Thunderbolt controller, which is supposed to bring DisplayPort 1.2 to the Thunderbolt port. This should mean that you can daisy chain (at least) two displays that support DisplayPort 1.2, meaning that you can get multiple external displays with the Macbooks without using the Thunderbolt Display.

Thanks for testing it. As I also read the thread that you posted in @ Macrumors, it seems like the iFixit teardown showed that Apple used last years Thunderbolt controller chip, not the new Redwood Ridge, which would imply that DP 1.2 support can not be fixed via software. Too bad.

I am using Macbook Air 2013 and it does not work. It seems that only thunderbolt 2 supports dp1.2 while macbook air only equipped with Thunderbolt 1 and not 2.

Surprising only Macbook pro support thunderbolt 2.

Does anyone have a 2 x 24"  which support DP1.2 that could test with a 13" Late 2013 MBP Retina? I've been searching all over to find out if it's possible! I realize it SHOULD be possible, but that doesn't mean it will work.

I'm in the same boat with 2 DP 1.2 monitors (Dell U2713H) that should work with the new thunderbolt 2.0 chipset in the late 2013 MBP that's sitting here on my desk. DP 1.2 is specifically designed to handle "daisychaining." My money says this is a Mavericks issue, as the hardware can handle it. That's my opinion. I guess we just wait and see if Apple enables this functionality or not. It doesn't sell Apple displays, so I'm not holding my breath.

There's too much glare where I work to run the glossy Apple monitors. I'll live with burning both my thunderbolt ports for displays. I'm currently using a StarTech USB 3.0 ethernet adapter. That's working fine. But, I REALLY want the daisychaining to work so I can use that 2nd thunderbolt for thunderbolt stuff.

I know this a bit old, but to answer everyone's question.
Intel Gen 3 graphics hardware (eg: MacBook Air pre 2014), does not support Displayport 1.2 or MST

The HD Graphics 4000 only supports DP 1.1

So this is a hardware support issue and not software drivers, external device, etc problem. Unfortunatly an upgrade is the only way to go.

Regards
