Organizing movie extras?

Over the years, I collected hundreds of movie extras* and I’ve imported them into iTunes. How do I sort them or group them into a subset of the film they belong to?

For example my library displays “The Iron Giant” with its gorgeous poster. But then I have 22 additional short clips named things like “Additional Scenes” and “Bringing the Giant to Life” and “Story and Animatics” and so on and so on before the next movie in my library. This cluttered view of my library is my default view within Apple TV, on iPad, and in iTunes on desktop.

Put simply, I’m looking for a way to see a clean library of actual movies, not 150 movies scattered between 500 extras. iTunes has a method of displaying extras within a TV Show and within Albums, so that I tap on the poster for the show, and have all content that belongs to that show as an option below it.

Thanks!

Things I tried that haven’t worked:

  • Adding the name of the movie to the “Grouping” field.
  • Adding the name of the movie into the “Sort As” field.
  • Changing them to a TV Show, adding a TV Show name, then changing them back to Movie.
  • Changing them to a Music Video, assigning them an album name, marking them as a part of a compilation, then changing them back to a Movie.

*movie extras = deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes, visual effects explainers, storyboard walkthroughs, blooper reels, trailers, featurettes, and mini-docs.
