highlighting and copying files within a folder

I want to highlight a group of files to copy them and paste to another application.  So, if I'm looking at 100 files and want to copy file #20 to 30 in sequence only, I'd normally use the shift key and highlight the first one (#20) and the last one (#30) and the ones in between would be highlighted.  That is normally done on a pc keyboard, but it doesn't seem to work on a mac.  What is the command on a MacBook Pro keyboard to do that?  I don't see a short cut. The only one I see on the help screen is Command-C for "all" the files, not a group of files within the folder.

Hi,

Click on the first one to highlight it > hold the shift key down > click on the last desired item.

What tjk said.

... alternatively, if they are NOT contiguous, you can click on them individually while holding the Command key and they will be added to the selection.

...OR, drag a selection rectangle across their icons (or possibly their names).

Follow this steps
