AirPods not working with safari

My AirPods work fine when using other browsers on an iMac but not with Safari. 

I have re-paired them and still nothing

I'm running 10.12.6 on the mac. 

I've been experiencing a similar/same issue. It does not appear that the browser based mute button has anything to do with the issue at least for me.

This issue only seems to effect some content within safari it self. With AirPods connected audio from iTunes plays perfectly through the AirPods wile audio from safari Is simultaneously playing through the computer speakers. This leads me to believe its an issue with safari(Quicktime).

The bug was not consistent. Watching YouTube resulted in the audio working just fine. However attempting to watch HBO Now online resulted with the audio only playing through the MacBook Pro speakers with other system audio playing fine through the AirPods. However this afternoon wile attempting to watch the race on MotoGP.com i had an issue where the Safari audio would only play through the speakers even with the AirPods connected. I found that changing the user agent to an IOS device solved the problem. 

As noted before this issue results in different audio playing through the AirPods and computer speakers at the same time. The Safari mute button is not engaged.

I have not been able to find any wrong settings in system preferences that would cause this issue but honestly im not an expert.

I too am having the same issue with HBO Go! It seems I can watch some other sites on Safari, but some still won't play though the AirPods on my 2017 12" MacBook. I was hoping someone would come along with a fix.

Had same problem. CNN. MLB. HBO Go. It was Flash sites that weren't sending audio to connected AirPods.

I just updated Flash this morning and it's been fixed. My "Shockwave Flash" plug-in says it's vers "27.0 r0" now.

You updated Flash on your iPhone? How did you do that?

This is a problem on desktop systems, deggie. Look at everyone's examples ... iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, etc.

But you are posting in the iPhone Accessories forum.

Go complain to the OP who put it there.
I'm just sharing a similar experience and a fix.
For something that is also an iPhone Accessory.

Haha that is a fair point. i'll take responsibility for that. The original post never specified but i was the one who ran with it on MacOS. Sorry y'all
