Is there a pay as you go sim for a cellular iPad

I have bought an iPad never having had one before and love it but realise I should have looked maybe at the cellular version?  Do Apple do a pay as you go data sim for the cellular iPad or am I being hopeful? At present I get by with a mobile dongle on my laptop but it is very slow and cumbersome!  Am hoping too that this question makes sense?
