Sharing & Permissions

There appears to be some changes to 10.13 around sharing and permissions.

 

When I select Get info for a folder or drive, the Sharing & Permissions section show "You have unknown access"

 

How do I set permissions now?  What about the issues that require a reset of permissions?

For external hard drives, the permissions on the root of the hard drive are now unmodifiable in the Finder. I haven't tested if you can change things in the shell.

 

You can create folders at the root of the hard drive, but it will authenticate you when creating. You can set the permissions for the folder.
