"Some of the items in library not copied"

Ive been getting an error message increasingly, saying

"some of the items in the iTunes library including "insert track name here" were not copied to the iPhone/iPod because they cannot be played on this device."

- Yet these files have been playing fine on my iPhone or iPod forever before?

What causes this - assuming its some bug with iTunes software (again) that causes newer devices to not play ones that were fine on older ones?

I have a list of about 150 tracks that will no longer synch to my iPhone (6S) similar with my old iPod (old 5th Gen) that doesnt seem to make any sense.

Between this &*my issues with storing the tracks on a NAS, I'm at my wits end with the seeming random fussiness of iTunes.
