Why different address completions in Mail?

Hi,

Why does Apple Mail (version 10.3 but earlier versions as well) give different address completion results with the same input?

This has resulted in some embarrassing email exchanges.

Here's the scenario: I handle support questions for our company and our policy is to CC: support@ourcompany.com and also Reply To: support@ourcompany.com.  Seems simple. I type "su" on the CC: line and it autocompletes to support@ourcompany.com.  Then I hit tab to go to the Reply To: line and type "su" and I get some other support@othercompany.com address.  I hit Send and if the customer replies, the reply unwittingly goes to othercompany.com!  My colleagues have the same problem.  We've tried removing support@othercompany.com from the Previous Recipients list, but we communicate on a regular basis with multiple "support" accounts, so this is a temporary solution at best.  We've tried adding contact information for support@ourcompany.com, but that doesn't seem to help.  Smart Addresses.  VIP.  Doesn't seem to help.

It appears that somehow Mail assumes that if you've used the address once in the message, you couldn't possibly want to use it again, so it removes it from the list of possible auto-completion candidates (but that's just a guess).

If I open a new mail message and type "su" at each of the To:, CC:, and Reply To: lines, I end up with To: support@ourcompany.com, CC: support@othercompany.com, Reply To: support@ourcompany.com.

If I go in CC:, Reply To:, To: order, I get: To: support@othercompany.com, CC: support@ourcompany.com, Reply To: support@othercompany.com.

I don't see any rhyme or reason for the behavior.

My current workaround (for years now) is to alt-drag the proper address from the CC: to the Reply To: line to make sure I have the same address in both places, but I just got burned by it again, so I thought I'd see if there's some reason for this behavior (and hopefully a workaround).
