iMac ram upgrade

Can I keep my default memory 8GB (two 4GB) of 1867MHz DDR3 memory and install new Crucial CL11, 2x8 GB DDR3, 1600 MHz. Is it a problem if they have different MHz?

Thanks

The 1600MHz modules are too slow for your computer.

No. Your iMac has no RAM slots--the RAM is integral with and soldered the logic board and no upgradeable. You must get the 27-inch model to have user-accessible RAM slots. That question was asked on the iFixit web site; their answer is the same as mine: SOLVED: 2015 21.5" ram upgrade - iMac Intel 21.5" Retina 4K Display (2015) - iFixit

Hi Niel,

Thanks for your reply. Which ones are the best for my computer?

Its, 27inch I have 4 slots as shown in Memory section.

dnztrtsh: Modules from Crucial or OWC which are 1867MHz or faster.

Allan: Please check the system information in the original post.

Mea culpa! I had just finished reviewing some older threads threads about the 21.5 inch models and had "no slots" on the brain which is still demanding coffee!

Hi Niel, thanks for your help.

I believe this will do: link

it's best if you navigate to OWC's site at www.macsales.com and click on the Memory button then search for the year iMac you have. If you are not positive what year the iMac is click the Apple symbol in the upper left of the display and click About this Mac and you will find the model year.
