Apple series 3 voice mail

Recently purchased watch with cellular capability. Have T-mobile and a iPhone 6. Have the latest iOS and watch os. When the store paired the watch to my phone they use an T mobile app called digits. Watch receives e- mails, text fine. Can make calls and receive calls fine with or without cell phone. The problem is when someone calls and leaves a voice mail. If the phone is off I do not get any notification on the watch that I have a voice mail. (It does show that I missed call.) When I go into phone on the watch to hear the voice mail no voice mail appears. In order to get a voice mail to appear on the watch I have to have my phone on and in range to the watch. If the phone is on I can see that I have a voice mail on the watch under phone/voice mail.

T-mobile said to go to the phone setting, dial 123 to hear the voice mails. It works but a pain in the ***. Get a few garbage calls, some leave messages some do not. Don’t have time to constantly check voice mail this way. When you miss a calll from some one important you can’t be sure if a voice mail was left or not.

This is crazy. What is the point of having cellular capability ( besides the ability of making a receiving calls ).

Im not sure who is dropping the ball on this notification.....T-mobile says it is Apple.

In my opinion someone somewhere failed to think the process thru. Steve would never have signed off on this.

can anyone shed any light on this?

Did a test....left iPhone on. Went outside with landline and watch. walked Far enough away to lose WiFi and connection to phone. My watch then switched to lte. Called cell phone, saw call come thru on watch, declined call and left voice mail. Watch displayed missed call then the t-mobile digit app appeared and then the green voice mail message was displayed. Pressed voice mail message and played message. Success......yippie .

The key is (at least with t-mobile) is to leave your phone on. I would think that you would still get voice mails with your phone off but I guess that might happen in a future watch update.

Hope this helps anyone elSee that has a problem with voice mail.
