MacBook pro 15" mid

My macbook pro 15" mid- 2012 500 GB SATA is running so slow!

I just recently upgraded my memory to 16GB from 4GB. My storage is at 353.5 GB available of 500. I did look up the HardDrive information and this came up (see screen shot)... how can I solve my "slow" problem?

Time Machine has not made a successful backup since late JULY of 2016.

Hello! I rarely plug it in. I did so last night and last it was backed up now is Jan 8 6:32pm... not sure if that is what is causing the slowness of my MacBook pro? ?

All I can tell about that is at the time you ran that report, the SIZE of the backup drive was reported as 0 Bytes, which is very unusual. It sometimes indicates that a drive is having problem.

Did your backup complete normally? If so, perhaps there is nothing to worry about.

The tasks showing under CPU when you ran your report: backupd mds and mdworker are consistent with a backup in progress.

recently, we have found a correlation between very slow execution times for etrecheck (although yours is not that awfully slow) and Bad Blocks developing on the Boot Drive, There is sometimes more information that can be gleaned from the SMART report.

If you have chance, try running etrecheck again, and with the report open, click on [Show SMART report] right next to your boot drive. That produces a little sub-report with a bunch of counters in it. Some are error counters, others are just miscellaneous things like drive temperature. If you can post that here, it may have some interesting information (or it may be boring).
