Frequent SMC reset?

I have a early 2015 Macbook (Retina, 12-inch) and have had numerous issues with it that frequent visits to the Apple Store and being sent away under warranty could never resolve (knocking noise, graphics issue...).

Starting this summer, another issue has occurred. 4 times now, out of the blue, my track pad stops working. Not only does it not move, but it can't even click. Like it's stuck. The first time it happened, it was under warranty, and they told me to do an SMC reset which fixed the problem. It has happened since and I have no idea why. Once it happened while it was off, once while I was working on a paper (had been in use for 4-5 hrs), once while watching Netflix, and just now while browsing Facebook. No rhyme or reason to when it'll happen but it's very frustrating, especially when you're writing a paper...

Any ideas as to why this happens relatively frequently?

Well, I would check with this tool: https://etrecheck.com/ if you have any known issue: you can post here the full report in order to have a look together.

Said that, I would proceed with:

- Reset NVRAM

- Reset SMC

if the issue still appears

- Remove all the peripherals and restart in safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

if the issue still appears regularly and the only way to fix is to reset again the SMC I would say that Apple should change your device.
