Booting Trouble with Multiple GPUs (MacPro1,1)

I've got a Mac Pro1,1 aka a first gen, 2006 Mac Pro. Still surprisingly fast after all these years.

It has the standard nVidia 7300GT graphics card. The Mac boots up just fine.

I also have a pair of new nVidia Geforce GTX 1050 ti cards.

If I remove the 7300 GT and put those two cards in there, the Mac boots right up with these powerful GPUs. But of course, I can only see the screen in Windows. On OS X (10.7), there's no support and no graphics.

The simple solution is to leave the 7300 in there. There's room for 5 card-widths full of PCI card. So you can fit all three cards in at once. The only thing is you have to put the 7300 in one of the higher numbered slots, due to slot number one being double-width. In other words, if you leave the single width 7300 in slot number one, you can't then fit two double-thickness cards in the remaining slots. But if you put the GTX cards at the top and bottom, you can fit the 7300 right in the middle.

With this configuration, you could use the super lower power 7300 as the actual video card and the two GTX cards can operate solely as, you guessed it, miners. It should work just fine in OS X 10.7 and Windows 7.

Just one problem....

This Mac won't boot with all three GPUs installed. When you hit the power button, you get no startup tone, no hard drive activity, no video on the screen. It powers up and just sits there. This is odd, there's no reason why. The two GTX cards are both low-power cards that do not require external power. And Mac Pro's have 300 watts to share among the GPUs anyway. That should be more than enough for these cards all at full power, let alone all three of these cards at idle.

So this leaves me a little stuck with only two options to get out of this. I need to either figure out a way to get this Mac Pro to boot with all three GPUs installed. OR I have to get the GTX cards working on OS X (10.7). Even if it's just rudimentary resolution with little to no graphical acceleration. I haven't tried every possible card-slot combination yet, that's next on my to do list. But beyond that, I'm a little stuck.
