I can’t take screen shots on my iPad Air ...

I am using a 12 inch iPad Air that I purchased in late 2016. I’ve updated my system to 11.0.2 (whatever is the most recent of the fixed ios11 updates). Since the most recent update I’m unable to take screen shots, something I was able to do in the earlier iOS. I’ve tried changing the settings in the photos and camera apps but that doesn’t fix the problem. Does anyone know what might be causing the problem?
