rented movie taking up space prior to expiratio...

I have an iPad Air 2 and I recently rented John Wick 2 on Itunes, After its expiration date I found that the about 5,6 Gb, the movie had taken up in storage, had not been freed up, when I then went back and search for the movie, and clicked rent again, the app crashed. I've tried restarting the my iPad multiple times but no results there. this is a big issue for me and I dont have a lot of storage now because of this bug, or glitch.
