Graphics display not working/corrupt in the app...

I'm using a MBAir 13-Inch, early 2015, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 running Sierra 10.12.6 and since I upgraded from El Capitan, numerous graphics displays have not been working. I would update, but the app store will not display anything and so I can't. Below are some examples:

iMessages look like this:

PDFs do not display in preview (they work in Adobe Reader):

The app store initially loads its usual graphics, but then goes blank:

Any suggestions?
