Delete Duplicate Photos?

How can I search for and delete duplicate photos on my Macbook Pro to free up storage space?

First, backup.

Use a duplicate finder like this: Duplicate File Finder - best fast free for files on the Mac App Store

Just be careful you're not deleting both copies before you empty the trash.

Thanks, but how do I back up using an external (segate) hard drive?  I need to clear up storage space on my macbook pro....nearing max. Biggest files are photos and home movies.

I partitioned the Segate into 2  one T portions , (1) Time Machine and (2) Segate Backup.  When I plug in the hard drive, I do not see how to back up items into there except to drag and drop them one by one.....which is taking forever. Any advice? You can tell....I'm not computer savy.
