Canadian iTunes Gift Card Redemption

A friend purchased an iTunes gift card for me in Canada but I can't redeem it.  It says that I have to redeem in the canadian storefront.  However, when I go to the CAN store, it says my apple ID is registered to the US and automatically switches me back to the US store.  What can I do?

Sell it to someone in Canada.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that is not really an option right now as I am not familiar with anyone who resides in Canada.

There aren't any other options. You can't redeem or spend that card from outside of Canada.

I encounter same issues my itunes can't be redeemed , got a response of invalid pin , I guess not registered properly

What is the exact text of the message, what type of card is it (iTunes or Apple Store), and what country are you in ? Canadian cards can only be used in Canada
