iMac 2015 not booting properly

I have an iMac 2015, 1tb hard drive that is not booting properly

I did a simple restart since I periodically do one, and noticed that the iMac was not restarting properly.

The Apple logo appears, the white progress bar starts going across, but very very slowly.

When the bar gets to the far right it stops. The computer never finishes rebooting.

I got into recovery mode and did first aid, and it came back ok.

Restarted and the same issue happened again.

Since I have never used recovery mode before was reluctant to do any more without help.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
