my macbook air keeps dinging all the time even ...

My macbook air keeps "dinging" even after I have shut down all notifications...I even shut down sounds on my iPhone incase they were sharing info. Can anyone suggest how to stop short of muting?

Depends on when you're getting the sounds, but go to System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects > turn the Alert volume all the way down > uncheck Play user interface sound effects > uncheck Play feedback when volume is changed.
