Itunes wont sync all of my music

So I have been having some really frustrating problems with my iPod touch (5th gen) lately. Mainly cause it's 5 years old and it's getting really buggy and slow. Yesterday, I even reset it to its factory settings hoping it will solve some of the issues. Now Itunes is giving me problems and will not sync ALL of my music. I have 2,548 songs and it will sync 100 or so songs before it disconnects then reconnects. Then I have to manually sync it again so it will continue, but then continues to disconnects and reconnects. Eventually, I was able to get all of the songs or so I thought. I scroll through my iPod and see some of the songs on the albums are grayed out and unplayable. I go back and try again to sync it and still gives me the same problems. I have already tried switching the cables and restarting both windows and my iPod.
