How to disable Wifi connection sound

Every time my macbook pro connects to a wireless network it makes a somewhat belligerent connection notification sound (I.E. every time I open it from sleep).  How do I disable this sound??

Check System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects

On the sound effects tab, under Select an alert sound:  I can select each alert sound, none of which are the ones the wifi connect sound makes, but even if it were there, I can't seem to double click on them or do anything with them.  The system just repeats those sounds.

Normally there is no sound when the WiFi connects.

Did you install some 3rd party software which notifies you of network connections?

You may be right... I've shut down every program that was running, including a bunch in the activity monitor.  Every time I enable and disable wifi the sound persists..  What the deuce!

Did you install Growl?

No, no growl.  Is there a way to find out what program initiates this?  I went to the system log but it doesn't indicate anything obvious to me.

I found your post while trying to figure out the same, or at least a similar, sound.  Every time I opened my Macbook I heard a notification sound -- but I had turned off every notification there was trying to narrow it down.  It was driving my crazy -- mostly because I couldn't find it.

Mine came down to Messages.

Messages > Preferences > General > Account Status > When I quit Messages, set my status to Offline  (UNCHECK THIS!)

Its Google Talk after a new Chrome install.  Disable sound in messages go to Preferences > Accounts then uncheck as shown.

I have this issue as well. And it's not documented. Have you recorded the notification sound?

I have the same issue and I don't have Gtalk enabled and I have unchecked the "set my status to offline" thing.

Still get this annoying sound. Will try and record it.
