When should i do the Applications/Disk Utility/...

Hi all

Is it good to do the Applications/Disk Utility/run First Aid regularly, or only for a special incident?

I just did it, attempting to resolve my printer’s webscanning   issue. Then i found an entire Macintosh HD volume show up in my Trash folder.

Is this normal?

Can i safely delete it?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what you did, but your Macintosh HD is your hard drive with all of your files, photos, info, including the OS, so, no, you do NOT want to delete it.

Do you still have the Macintosh HD icon on your desktop?

To answer your first question: there is no need to run first aid unless there is a problem. Your printer problem would most likely not be fixed by it. What exactly is "webscanning"?

Thanks babowa,

I did the the Applications/Disk Utility/run First Aid.

I do still have the Macintosh HD on desktop (when enabled to see it in finder prefs).

So it appears i have two copies of the HD somehow!(?)

One in trash (showing 96.67 GB on disk), and one running my whole system (showing 96.65 GB on disk).

Web scanner is HP printer's website where you can scan things from your own printer and choose settings etc.
