Mac Mini Audio

I inherited a Mac Mini Server Mid 2010. Using it for Facebook and youtube only.

For example I'm listening to youtube videos and then the monitors turn to black. The music is still playing. That's okay with me. But when I move the mouse or press a key in the keyboard, the audio cuts off. The speaker icon on the upper right of the toolbar turns gray. My solution is to pull the speaker plug and reinsert it again. Then the speaker icon turns black.

Why is this happening? And how should I fix this? Because of this issue, I have to place the Mac Mini with the plugs and ports facing me.
