iPhone6 volume randomly fluctuating

my volume keeps going up and down while i'm listening to music. i've already tried turning off the sound check and i've gone through every possible option in settings. it's really annoying because it only happens when my phone is unlocked.

take it out of any case you have it in and see if it still behaves like this. If so reset your device.

I took it out of the case. It's still doing it but I don't want to reset my phone.

if you call Apple they will likely suggest you update your device (your signature suggests you already have) then reset the phone after backing it up, failing that they will then likely suggest you take to an Apple Authorized Repair Center. Outside of cleaning the device How to clean your Apple products - Apple Support I don't know what you will do or wont but unless you think this will fix itself you may find yourself running out of possible options.
