Cannot access Office365 calendar on MacBook cal...

A new client of mine has provided an email (and O365/Outlook) account for me to access their systems, tools, email, calendar, etc.   I do not run O365 on my MacBook Pro (MacOS Sierra 10.12.6), but can access their online O365... and this runs well as a stand-alone set of applications via Safari.

However...

When I try to set up this account on my Mac... the set-up process only lets me run this account with MAIL and NOTES... which means that I am unable to see any CALENDAR appointments, meetings, calls, etc. in my Mac, and it also does not let me send, receive, or "accept" calendar invitations on my Mac.   Additionally, it also does not allow access to CONTACTS - in either direction.   This is a big productivity challenge - and certainly increases the likelihood of a missed meeting/call.

Additionally, iPhone let me set this O365 account with full access and actionability of:  MAIL, CONTACTS, CALENDARS, REMINDERS, and NOTES.   However, the access and actionability of emails on my iPhone have been inconsistent.

At times, I can see that a message from this O365 account is in my inbox on my iPhone (iPhone 7, iOS 10.3.3), but it says NO SENDER and says NO CONTENT, and is almost always dates 12/31/69.   When I select these messages, they do not open.   Then at other times, these are fully functioning and accessible messages - able to be read, replied to, forwarded, filed, and deleted.

Can someone help with suggestions as to how I might make this a seamless, painless, synchronized experience - like the other 3 accounts that I have set up on these devices??

Thank you!
