Firewire port does not communicate

iMac mid-2012

Firewire port does not work. It will not communicate or appear with Time Machine or Disk Utility.

I have tried different cables and backup drives, but the iMac cannot find anything connected to the Firewire port.

It appears to be a hardware issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
