Sierra Apple Mail Crashes on Launching

My Mac Book Pro is operating on Sierra 10.12.4. The email crashes immediately after I launch it.  The error message is below.

I have done the following without success:

1. I deleted the apple.mail files without any success

2. I deleted the appleMailServer without any success

I do have a Time Machine backup but I have been able to find the appropriate files to copy.

When you open the Mail app, it normally opens with a message already selected. It could be that specific message is malformed or damaged, causing Mail to crash. To address that possibility please read If Mail unexpectedly quits when viewing certain messages - Apple Support.

I did as you directed and nothing has changed.  After it crashed several times using my iPhone I deleted all the messages in my in-box, sent box, trash etc.  Once the iPhone synced with the laptop I tried again.  It still crashed.  Listed is the information from the notification.

Has there been any resolution to this? My Mac Mail began crashing this afternoon  -Fri. Sept. 15th 2017.

I tried using the time machine to return the system to yesterday (Thurs) morning ...did a restart ..made no difference.
