How to restore iTunes with iCloud from local ba...

Hi

My MacMini was pretty sick - so I took it in to the repair shop. They wiped the drive and gave it a clean OS install. Great news - it now works really well! Problem - restoring my iTunes library.

I have all the data from before backed up on a Time Machine.

I use iTunes with iCloud - I have a lot of music.

What I want is to be able to re-import the local backup of the music, rather than to have to download it all from iCloud. If I just try and drag the local backup into iTunes, it creates a duplicate copy of the tracks. If I add the files direct to the iTunes library Music folder, iTunes doesn't recognise it.

I guess I could also get the old iTunes library from the local backup - but iTunes was one of the worst performing programmes when the MacMini was behaving badly, and I'm worried that using the same Library will just re-create the issue. I wonder if it's better to go for a clean newly built library. Maybe that's naive of me?
