"Hey Siri" does NOT work. Am I alone?

I love my Apple Watch but the "Hey Siri" feature is a joke. It is embarrassing to be out and about and saying "Hey Siri" over and over, in different inflections and volumes and tones, and it only works 1 in 200 times... so bad, they ought to just drop the "feature." And yes, it is turned on in Settings.

Am I alone in this not working? I ALWAYS have to push the Crown in to get Siri's attention.

* crickets *

It works just fine for me. Rarely have to repeat myself at all.

Humph. Now I'm even more annoyed. (And I met a guy yesterday who got access to the next OS for the Watch due to the same issue and he too can't get Siri to appear on the command.)

Wonder why the Watch is inconsistent? Curious to hear from others... or if there is a solution?

Try restarting (or, if that doesn't work, force restarting) your Apple Watch:

Restart: Press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; Drag the slider to turn off completely; Afterwards, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

Force restart: press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Remember also to pause after saying "Hey Siri" until you see Siri appear on your Apple Watch display.

FYI that is not necessary, and may actually prevent your spoken commands from being recognized. The reason is that Siri will start listening, then whatever ambient noise during that pause may take precedence over what you say next.

Try saying whatever it is you want to say all at once, without a pause. You may find that works better for you. Or not, but try it, it works for me. Siri works reliably.

Maybe you are "alone." "hey Siri" works fine for me on my  Watch

I don't have the watch. It Hey Siri doesn't work on my iPhone 6 or my brand new iPad Air 2 - so no, it's not just you or just your watch...

That feature has to be specifically enabled on the iPhone. I assume you did that?

Settings > General > Siri.

Er, yes - otherwise I wouldnt have bothered making any comment!

Given that this is the Using Apple Watch forum, and that you do not have one, you should post a question in an iPhone or iPad discussion forum. I assume you did that also?

Given your attitude, I hate to say this, since you probably already know, but the only way that Hey Siri works for the iOS devices is if you have it connected to power.

See this is why I do not usually engage ... And I'm the one with attitude? Hilarious.

TToo many assumptions, I assume? Was just trying to be supportive to the original post. Clearly that's not valued so much.

If by being "supportive" means you agree the "Hey Siri" feature is a joke and that Apple ought to just drop the "feature" you assume correctly. This resource is designed to unite those seeking problems with those who can help solve them. It is an inappropriate forum to vent complaints, especially if you do not even own the product being discussed. That is precisely the sort of contribution that's not valued so much.

If you are sincerely interested in addressing your particular concern, and you are unable to find a solution by searching for it, the most effective way to do that is to post a new question in an appropriate forum – either of the ones linked above.

Thanks, but I know how to reset the Watch (have to every now and then due to the known issue of the touch stopping responding) But restarting is always worth a try on any Apple product....
