notification email address / apple id

Im trying to change my apple ID email address - its not allowing me to as its being used as my notification email address

i cant find referance to this anywhere so that i may change it and thus allow me to use it for my apple id

You have, I assume, an Apple ID which is not an Apple address; and an additional contact address within the ID.

The way to change this is first to remove the notification address and replace it with something else. Then you will probably have to wait a few days before it is cleared for re-use, at which point you should be able to use it to replace the Apple ID. Note that before you do this latter you should sign out of iCloud and the iTunes Store on all your devices, to avoid problems. Then you can sign back in with the new ID once it's been changed. Your synced iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out but will reappear when you sign back in (give it time).

So when, in your first sentence, "to replace it (the notification address) with something else", that means I need an additional new email address?

So the sequence, if I understand you is

1. Get an additional email address

2. Remove the Notification Address and replace that with the new email address.

3. Sign out of iCloud & iTunes. on all my devices.

3. Wait a few days

4. Create New Apple ID.

or is the sequencing not right?
