Movies have stopped playing

I have purchases many movies and never had a problem with them playing.  However, my movies have started to not play.  I can click them and get to the options of play, extra and so forth.  However, when I click play the movie never starts and iTunes just locks up.  I have to CND to bring up task manager and end iTunes.  My music plays with no issue and so do my TV series.  Any suggestions on how I can remedy the issue as it is becoming very frustrating.
