Cost to replace iMac 5K Screen

Hi, I'm trying to find out the price of an iMac 5K screen replacement.

All of the Apple Authorized Service Providers won't give me a quote without doing a diagnostic.

I don't want to waste money on a diagnostic, because if the price is too high I won't even take it in.

Has anyone gotten the screen on their iMac 5K replaced after an accident?

What was the cost (I'm in the US)?

What happened to the screen? How old is your Mac? is it still under warrantee (extended?)

If not under warrantee you may be able to find an independent repair shop that also recycles macs for usable parts & the may have a screen you can purchase -- also just look on the entire internet - there may be YouTube instructions on how to replace it yourself -- and also on-line places to purchase the part.

I hit a wall while I was moving it. The screen hasn't been right since. It's 2014 so it's still under warranty. But I'm sure AppleCare doesn't cover accidental damage. Coming across a iMac this new at a recycling center is slim to none. I could do the repair myself, but that would void the warranty, and I have a few years of AppleCare on it.

How hard did you hit the wall?  If there is no visible damage to wall or screen - than it could just be a coincidence.   Or it could be a fault with the connection between the  screen etc - and just the act of adjusting the screen caused a disconnect.   So take it in under Apple Care - for diagnosis of screen issue.  

There's damage to the screen. A crack along the black bezel. I doubt they would even consider an AppleCare warranty repair if they see it

I was quoted 486 euros for the new screen and 69 euros for the labor which brings it to a total of 555 euros at the Apple Store in Brussels. Mine is a Late 2014 as well.
