No "Delete" button in "Image Capture" app.

Hello!

"Delete" button disappeared from my Image Capture app that I use to import new photos from my iPhone. See the attach.

PS This problem referes only to my specific iPhone only - I connected another iPhone instead of my own - and voila! - button appeared again, but not for my own device!

I found the solution.

To have the DELETE button in image capture app u MUST turn off "image Capture (beta)" feature on your iDevice iCloud settings!

Hi Alejandro_64,

To delete pictures on your device, select the picture(s) you wish to delete in Image Capture and then click the delete key on your computer's keyboard. See this article -

Image Capture: Transfer images and other items from your device

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Best,

Brett L

This DOES NOT WORK.

There seems to be no way to delete photos on the phone using Image Capture.  This of course makes any photo-workflow very difficult.

Thanks Apple.  iOS 8 is the worst yet.

From your screen shot, I’m wondering if it is a localization problem.  I think the delete button is being squished out.

If you don’t have it turned on already, try enabling Full Keyboard Access in the Keyboard system prefs, Shortcuts tab.

When in Image Capture, tab to highlight the buttons. When the Rotate button is highlighted, tab once more, then hit spacebar (if  the Import To button isn’t highlighted).

With Full Keyboard Access, you can tab to controls and execute the outlined control by hitting spacebar (the default button--filled in--is activated with Return key as normal).

To delete you must not hit just the "delete" key it must be "command+Delete". hope that solves your problem.

Slight correction to the fix.  The thing you need to turn off is called iCloud Photo Library (Beta), not Image Capture beta.  On your iOS device, go to Settings, iCloud, Photos, and then flip the switch off for iCloud Photo Library (Beta).

Glad you found it Alejandro and reported back.

iOS 8 is a mess.  They way they have attempted to handle Photos is a mess.  This is a major issue to basic workflow of backing photos from iPhone to desktop

I'm getting tired of things working 85% of the time.  It's been 6 months since these features where announced at WWDC

Thanks Allison for the fix . . .not being able to clear some junk photos on my iPhone was driving me %#@&-en nuts!

Hi,

I found the same issue, if you turn off the iCloud upload to photos and then rest your phone by holding down the home and power button till the Apple logo appears open Image Capture app again and boom the delete button is back.

Thank you so much - this has been driving me nuts.

So then afterwards, just reset the iCloudPhotoLibrary button.

any other suggestions?

THIS IS IT !!! AFTER 1 MONTH TRYING TO SIMPLY ERASE PHOTOS I GOT BACK THAT BUTTON BACK , THANKS !! IF THE SIMPLEST THING LIKE THAT TAKES 30 DAYS TO ACCOMPLISHED... WHAT A SHAME

I did selectively spend a lot of time deleting after turning iCloud setting on my iPhone 6 plus off.

The delete but was there on image capture and All was deleted. Then I turning iCloud back on and all the photos

were back. How do I just delete unwanted accumulating photos off my phone in mass. Now there are thousands.

After chatting about it here and thinking about it more, I did a blog post about how this happened, and why I actually think it's ok:

yes it work's just turn off everything about photos in iCloud

cheers
