iMac software claims "Incorrect Apple ID/password"

Whenever I try to log on to iMac software with my Apple ID, I get an error message about the password being incorrect despite me just resetting it and successfully logging in with this password on other devices and on apple.com/icloud.com etc.

 

I can log in at appleid.apple.com and iCloud.com on my iMac without an issue, and I have no trouble logging in to my account on any other device (I have tried this on FOUR other devices, so trust me). I only have this issue with iMac software, i.e App Store, iTunes and logging in to iCloud through System Preferences. This was not an issue as I first got my iMac, this issue came up only recently.

I have tried clearing /Library/Caches, did nothing to solve my problem.

 

Any suggestions?

 

EDITED: I just created a new Apple ID and signed in to the App Store without any issues. Someone PLEASE explain to me what the **** is the problem here, I am going insane.......
