My HP Laserjet 2600n not working with this upda...

My laserjet 2600n printer stopeed working with the latest OS Sierra update 10.12.5.  Any suggestions?

The last drivers available from the HP site for the LaserJet 2600 were for OS X Lion back in 2011. However, the Apple HP Printer Drivers 5.0 shows that this LaserJet was supported as of Oct. 2016. That was several macOS Sierra releases ago, and yes, macOS Sierra 10.12.5 could have whacked the drivers for this 2005+ vintage printer.

 

You can try resetting your printer, and if that does not work, then it is time for a replacement.

  1. Verify that your printer is on, has no printer related errors, and is connected to the network.
  2. System Preferences : Printers & Scanners panel
    1. Control-click, or two-finger tap (if configured) on the HP LaserJet 2600 entry in the printers panel.
      1. Select Reset Printing System… from the pop-up menu.
        1. Select Reset button on the “Are you sure...” dialog, and next, enter your admin password.
        2. Your printer entry will be removed from the panel. Click the + button to add a printer. When you do this, the bottom menu entry will be your previous HP LaserJet entry. Select that.
        3. If the driver is out of date, the updated driver will be downloaded/installed, and your HP LaserJet 2600 will now appear in the Printers list again.
        4. Control-click or two-finger tap on the printer entry and select Set default printer from the menu.
        5. Click on the Options & Supplies panel button if there are options that you wish to configure.
  3. Try printing to your HP LaserJet 2600.

I just purchased a brand new MBP and I'm having the same issue. I have a HP 2600n on my network that I can't seem to get working with 10.12.6. I can't find the driver in the list even using the above suggestion.

 

On my 2009 MBP I'm running 10.11.6 and it works fine.

 

I can share the printer from the old MBP to the new one and it shows the driver but that means I need to have the 2009 MBP on to print from the new MBP. Even after sharing it the driver still doesn't show up on 10.12.6. According to https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201465 the HP Color LaserJet 2600 is supported.


Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I should note that even shared the printer still wouldn't print from the brand new MBP
