delete apps

I have an ipad2.  I followed the instuctions on how to make the icons jiggle and then  the minus sign should appear on the icon you want to delete, tap it and it is gone. well, no minus sign appears. the other method is go to restrictions and delete the app there, I get asked for the passcode for restrictions. I have no idea what it is  and I don't think I every  had one, I live alone so there was no reason to enter a code. so, how to proceed? when I connect to itunes I can see the app I want to delete but it isn't in the list to the right. any ideas

First of all, when the icons wiggles, there's an X you can tap to delete (not a minus sign).

To change any options in Restrictions, you need to enable Restrictions by putting in a passcode (don't forget what you put in here).

If you already has a passcode in Restrictions and you forgot what it is then you have to restore as new and start from beginning.
