How do I update my iOS?

I recently attempted to update to iOS 11, and it told me I needed 1.85GB to do the software update. So, I deleted some things and I currently have 2.02GB available. I went to settings to try again, but it told me I still did not have 1.85GB, even though I DO have enough, 100% for sure. Not sure what to do.
