There are several good audio editor/converters that have demo versions - I feel you get what you pay for.

For a long time I loaded WMA files on my Macbook Pro, opened them with Quicktime, watched Quicktime "convert" the files and then dragged the files to iTunes. NOW I can't do that.....I get a message that "The file may be damaged or may not be a movie file that is compatible with QuickTime Player." What's up with this? I can play the file with Flip4Mac but that doesn't help me get it into iTunes because Flip does not convert the files as Quicktime used to.   I successfully converted files as explained with Mavericks but now have but now I can't.  The only thing I can think of that has changed on my Macbook is that I've upgraded to Yosemite.  I honestly can't be sure that Quicktime wasn't working after the upgrade to Yosemite but it does not work now.  Help please!

you could try audacity or wavepad both of which should open that format.

What's the source of your WMA files? Most nowadays include DRM/copyright protection, so things are no longer easily converted to discourage that kind of thing. I've purchased CDs which I could not even play on my iMac because of it (since a computer could be used to copy them) - they played fine in a regular CD player.

I use an olympus recorder to record myself and friends playing music.  Nothing protected here!   Apple has changed something!

That could be. I don't know about Quicktime, but I do know there were major changes in iMovie as an exported file now has to be run through a converter if I want to do anything with it besides share it in the cloud (and that includes playing it with QT). So, it is possible that things were changed.

For audio files, I use Sound Studio (not free).

I've had this Macbook for nearly a year and everytime Apple does something like this it really ****** me off.  I think about all the time I've spent only to find out that "you just can't do that with Mac".....make me wish I had my PC back.  Same thing with my iPhone when I look at newer Android phones. 

Which WMA to MP3 converters would you recommend? I have had difficult finding Apps on iTunes App store that have had enough reliable reviews
