Screensaver problem osx sierra

I got a problem with my screensaver with OS X Sierra. It won't start!

I'm having this problem, too. The preview works, but simply waiting on it, it never comes on. If you assign it to a hot corner, putting the mouse in the hot corner will cause it to blink on very quickly then go away.

I am experiencing the same problem on my MacBook Air with Sierra too.

Not just the screen saver is not working, the turn off display does not work neither.

It was working properly before the OS upgrade.

my 2012 MacMini with apple display also has the problem since the upgrade.  the display used to go dark after 5 or 10 minutes if i walk away from the computer.  now when i come back the screen is still lit up.  it might cause the screen to burn out if i can't find a fix soon

Same issue here. While I can preview the screensaver (photo album) from the Preference Pane, assigning it a "Hot Corner "or a shortcut key combo through a 3rd party software (SizzlingKeys) do nothing at all. Had this problem since updating to Sierra MacOS.

Specs: MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014).

I had the same problem on my 2014 Mac Mini.

A shutdown and reboot fixed it for me, hope this works for others having this problem.

does it not start ANY screensaver?

have you already tried the SMC reset and the Pram (nvram) reset?

In my case (MBA), tried reboot, tried the SMC reset and the Pram (nvram) reset

Does not work neither.

One thing I forgot to mention, I have hooked up with 2 monitors - 1 with mini display port and 1 with AirPlay.

If I don't have AirPlay running, the screen saver and sleep function seems to be working with the physically attached monitor, but once I extended my screen with AirPlay, neither screen saver or sleep will be working (it worked fine with OS before Sierra)

In the meantime, I just have to disable AirPlay when I go for lunch. Hope it will be fixed soon.

Just updated to Sierra and I'm having this problem too.

This worked for me:

1. In the Finder go to: (your user name)>Library>Preferences and delete the "com.apple.screensaver.plist" file.

2. Empty trash

3. Shut down system

4. Start system

And now it's back to not working again.

Has anyone found a fix for this problem?  I have a mini and am having the same problem, plus now it will not keep my desktop picture, it goes back to the ugly blue desktop

I searched the forums for a solution but nothing worked. A customer's almost new Mac Mini running macOS Sierra 10.12.3 had the same problem.

This fixed it, though: I deleted the cache files from

Library/Caches and from

Users/yourusernamehere/Library/Caches

(NOT the actual Cache folders, just the contents!)

Then I restarted while holding command-r to force the computer into recovery mode, then ran Disk Utility FirstAid on the internal drive (both the indented and parent icons representing the drive). Then quit DiskUtility and quit again to restart.

After the computer restarted normally, I emptied the trash (you can't empty the cache unless you restart or do some more technical stuff, but restarting is the easiest way).

The screensaver and the hot corner work again! Whew.

This method also fixed the issue with my screensaver.
