iCloud Photo Sharing is not available for this ...

1- I run macOS Sierra 10.12.3 on my MacPro, with iCloud photo sharing enabled (I checked)

2- Photos.app runs fine and has many photos, including shared photo albums *I* created

3- My wife creates a new shared photo album on her iPhone running OS 10.3

4- I get a notification email for this new shared photo album, with a big "Subscribe" button

5- I click the subscribe button on my Mac. Note that I do it from the iCloud email reader running the Safari web browser.

6- I get a page with an error message that reads "iCloud Photo Sharing is not available for this device"

7- What the *** ???

the error page also mentions:

"To subscribe you need to be signed in to iCloud on: [...] a Mac with macOS 10.8.2 or later and iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later"

What the *** again: Photos.app is not mentioned, suggesting Photos.app is not compatible with iCloud Photo Sharing, or more likely, that the error page is oooooold.

So how do I get this shared photo album that my wife wants me to see?

Thanks.

Have you tried accepting the invite from within the Photos app itself?

No I haven't. How am I supposed to do that? Photos.app doesn't show me any invite.

Of course, I am logged in with my only iCloud account everywhere.

When I get an invite, as soon as I start Photos I get a notice.

Have her invite you again and check in her settings that your invite has been sent.

"open your invitation in the Mail app and click the Subscribe button in the message."

Mail app? This is a ******* joke.
