How do you change playlist order in iTunes 12.3

I cannot find directions for changing the playlist order anywhere.  How do you do it?????

Hi Patricia,

First, if you haven't already, set the view to Songs, using the pull-down menu at the top right of the iTunes window (just below the Search bar). This gives you the traditional "column" display.

Now click on the column header on the far left -- it will be blank except for a little arrow symbol pointing up or down. Now you can select tracks in the playlist and drag them up or down to change the order as you like.

I have the same issue, and this solution isn't helping me at all. Clicking that triangle button does nothing except sort the songs in the reverse order--I can't click and drag songs no matter what I do. Not within the playlist window, not within the "edit playlist" window (why on earth does such a thing exist?), nowhere. I can only add new songs using the contextual menu, and they go directly to the end rather than where I want them. Not when the upper right menu sorts as "songs" versus anything else. Not when the menu over the edit playlist window says it's sorting by manual order. Not by left-clicking or right-clicking. Not by clicking on the playlist name.

I've been an Apple user for many years, but I'm growing increasingly angry at how user-unfriendly iTunes has become without providing any useful new functionality, despite long and loud complaints from the community. Who's minding the store there?

This solution also does absolutely nothing for me. I added some new songs to a playlist and it put them at the end of the list, and like epenthesis2 above, I have tried every combination of clicking around in iTunes and there is no way to drag and drop songs. Anyone that has any UI experience would allow dragging and dropping in ANY view (like itunes always used to do), especially in the edit view. Apple has always been excellent at allowing draga nd drop for EVERYTHING for as long as I can remember. It's like they forgot to turn the drag and drop feature back on when they launched this version of iTunes.

Does not work, cannot drag, cannot "love" cannot shuffle

Yes it does work, but some information was left out (i.e. steps 3 and 5).

1. You must put the playlist into Song view.
2. You must click in the header of the left-most column (the one with no title).
3. The playback mode must NOT currently be in shuffle mode.  If the criss-cross arrows in iTunes header are blue, click them to turn shuffle OFF (black).
4. Now you can drag the songs to any order you want.
5. When the order is how you like it, right-click on the playlist name and select "Copy to play order" to save the new order (this was not stated above).

This works for regular and smart playlists (although the order for smart playlists will change if the contents change due to the smart criteria selected).

I don't know why you mentioned "loving" a track, that has nothing to do with this topic.

First, if you haven't done so already, notice that just below the Search bar, at the far right edge of your screen, there is a small down arrow.  The word next to it describes the type of view you have.  It should be "Songs."  If not click on whatever word is there and then set the view to "Songs" using the pull-down menu that appears after you click on that small down arrow.

On that same pull-down menu, about half way down, you will see it say "Sort By".  Click on that and then select "Manual Order."
