Stuck in iTunes 12.5.5.5 Cannot upgrade. Same w...

Windows 10 Home, Version 1607, Build 14393.1480. 64-bit.

Intel Core i7-4700MQ cpu at 2,40GHz

16 GB RAM installed

iTunes 12.5.5.5  --  iCloud 5.0

It's been months that I cannot update the software (both iTunes and iCloud). Downloaded the software, tried to install it manually, failed. I even tried to completely uninstall Apple software but uninstallation failed too. Amazingly, after all that, current version works fine so no urgent need. But it should be addressed sooner or later.

Can anyone help?

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Right-click on the setup file and run the installer as administrator. In some cases you may also need to temporarily disable any non-Microsoft anti-virus software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

I had the same problem. I went through the items in the second box, as suggested, and the next time I tried the installation it worked.
